Frequently Asked
Everything people ask about Meryus before they sign up.
What is Meryus?
A free fitness challenge app for small groups. Pick any metric (miles, steps, sleep, reps, anything), invite friends with a join code, and watch everyone's progress on a clean real-time chart. No ads, no feed, no paid tier.
Why not just use Strava or Garmin's built-in challenges?
Because the native options are limited and ecosystem-locked. Strava Clubs only show Strava users and only count distance/time. Garmin Connect groups only show Garmin users. Both feel like an afterthought inside a much bigger app. Meryus is built around the challenge: friendlier UI, any metric you want, and anyone can join regardless of what (if anything) they wear.
Is Meryus free?
Yes. Completely free. No ads, no paid tier, no upsell.
Do my friends need a wearable?
No. Some can auto-sync from Strava or Garmin, others can log by hand. Everyone shows up on the same chart.
What kinds of challenges can I create?
Anything with a number. Distance (run, ride, walk, swim), time, counts (steps, reps, workouts), health metrics (HRV, resting heart rate, weight, sleep, stress), or a fully custom metric you define yourself.
How do friends join?
You share an 8-character join code. They sign up with email or Google, enter the code, and they're in. No app install, no friend requests, no follower graph.
Does Meryus work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It's a responsive web app. Open meryus.com in any browser. Nothing to download.
Does it work with Strava?
Yes. Connect once and runs, rides, and other activities sync automatically within seconds via webhook.
Does it work with Garmin?
Yes. Connect Garmin Connect once and activities, daily steps, sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, and stress flow in automatically.
What if I use both Strava and Garmin?
Meryus dedupes. The same workout is counted once, never twice.
Is my data private?
Yes. Challenges are private to people with the join code unless you explicitly make one public. Wearable tokens are stored server-side with row-level security and never exposed to the browser.
Who built Meryus?
One independent developer. No company, no investors. Support: support@meryus.com.
